Performance: Progress, as his name implies, will help us progress in many areas of our breeding program. The calves sired by Progress prove him as a calving ease sire. He ranks in the top 1% of the breed for Calving Ease and Birth Weight. The progeny are deep bodied, soggy cattle with the daughters appearing very broody and the sons exhibiting big scrotal measurements. Progress will not sire very much eye pigmentation, some extra white, and will sire horned calves.
Carcass: The ultrasound data proves the carcass merit is accurate. Progress will rank in the top 1% of the breed for all the breed indexes. In the Circle A feed test, Progress is the high IMF Hereford sire, and out ranked most Angus bulls. Progress will sire Baldy calves, with carcass traits and great females.
Maternal: The Progress daughters are the measuring tool by which all other sire's daughters are measured here at SHF. In our 2011 production sale, the Progress daughters averaged over $10,000. We will continue to use Progress genetics in our herd for many years. As I search for new herd sires, I am looking to find bulls out of Progress daughters. Nationally, Progress daughters have weaned 532 calves, with an average ratio of 100.7.
