We enjoyed a cloudy day that brought the temperature down. We heard from three sectors of the beef industry that influence our choices as registered breeders.
The initial topic was:
"How are the profit drivers changing for the different segments of the beef industry.
President Business Operations and Supply Chain
with Cargill Protein North America,
will address the questions from the packer perspective.
Recent Hall of Fame Cattle feeder inductee,
and owner/manager with Hi Plains Feedyard,
Montezuma will discuss the feeding sector.
Commercial cattlemen and a partner in High Plains Ponderosa dairy
will address the commercial beef and dairy sector.
High Plains Ponderosa dairy is a 16,000 cow dairy near Plains Ks.
They are a very progressive dairy with a perspective on Beef on Dairy
and will be able to give direction on how these cattle perform,
hang on the rail and how commercial beef compare.
