Overview: Wonder and his progeny have helped us take a "next step" in our program. Wonder is found in many of our pedigrees. He provides performance with carcass merit. The daughters of Wonder have been doing a nice job and put him in the top 1% of the breed for Maternal Calving Ease. This is a great trait to breed into a cowherd. I would like to say we planned that, but sometimes, it is better to be lucky.
Performance: The final data from the National reference sire test at Olsen's shows 100% of the Wonder calves graded choice or better. They did this while eating 3% less feed than the average of the sires on test.
Cow Family: His cow family is proven with longevity, good udders and performance. They have also taken birth weight down. When we pick donor cows, we base our picks on udders, performance, carcass and strength of cow families. This is to let you know, we have flushed his dam, a maternal sister and 2 full sisters.
